What is Grundtvig

The European Union's Lifelong Learning Programme GRUNDTVIG funds projects that allow organisations to work with European counterparts on issues of mutual interest, to share good practice, experience and to discuss common problems.

Grundtvig Partnerships offer you the opportunity to work with other European organisations and co-operate on a particular theme related to adult education. Partnerships enable staff and learners to take part in a European project - the benefits can be enormous!

Partnership projects are about co-operation and exchanging information at a European level. The funding allows organisations to work with partners from across Europe to share practice, discuss problems and compare solutions on a particular topic. Partnerships can be on any topic in adult education.  They can examine all types of learning, from non-formal to informal and formal. In general Grundtvig funding is more flexible than other forms of EU programmes and it encourages learning through experience, non formal methods and mobility.

Funding is given as a lump sum for a two year period, and is based upon the number of visits you make to partner organisations – these are referred to as ‘mobilities’.
