Partner's meeting in Murcia

The third meeting of the Project Into-Active Europe was held in Murcia, in southeastern Spain. There were 14 people involved, 2 coming from the British partner Rural Kent, 4 from Slovak Disability Council, 6 from the French Seniors Handicapes Europeens and 2 from the Spanish Fundación Diagrama. It is relevant also to mention the collaboration of several professionals from Fundación Diagrama who have helped in organizing the event, as Gertrudis Cánovas, head in Murcia of the socio-sanitary intervention area, and Pedro Garcia, a renowned journalist who works for the press department.

During the first day, Tuesday April the 17th, it was held an stearing group meeting of in one of the Fundación Diagrama´s venues in Murcia. There were discussed issues such as dissemination of the project through the website or the evaluation. It was given an special importance to the issue "taking care of carers" for which each of the partners has made an study analyzing the situation in their respective countries.

The second day, Wednesday April the 18th, were visited two projects. The first visit was to the Centre of People with Disability in the town of Churra, managed by the Regional Council, in which we saw how to work and encourage people with severe intellectual and physical disabilities. The second visit was to the Care Home Nuevo Azahar in the town of Archena, managed by Fundación Diagrama, located in a prime location and with the main objective of improving quality of life of elderly people.

The meeting was an example of integration and normalization because 4 people, users of wheelchair, have taken part of the event, and with a supporting and helpful attitude, the meeting has developed normally, showing that we are all part of the construction of our society.
